About The Shop

From Hollywood to Hardwood

My name is Jason Wittman, I was born in Southern California and after 30 years decided to move from Los Angeles, CA to a small town nestled on the south end of the Gila National Forest: Hillsboro, NM.

I am an IATSE union member in both New Mexico local 480 and California local 44.  I am still actively working in the entertainment industry and therefore will not always be accepting commissions. My professional career has had many interesting builds from spaceships to castles but what I really enjoy is Fine Woodworking and crafting something that has beauty and longevity because oftentimes in film everything you make has a very limited purpose and is discarded once the film has wrapped. My philosophy with my personal shop is to create lasting beautiful furniture from sustainable and responsibly sourced lumber.

I Moved to New Mexico with my girlfriend Jessica. She is an amazingly talented ceramic artist (https://jessicawertz.com/). We have two little pygmy goats and two puppies. We have been working hard to breath some life into an old rock house built into a hillside and let’s just say there was and still is some major work to be done.
